Our health insurance benefits
Our cover can be adapted to suit your needs, and you can expect all of this and more:
We cover more mental health conditions than any other leading UK insurer††
We’re committed to helping people improve their mental health, which is why we cover more mental health issues than any other leading UK insurer ††. We’ve also created a new mental health hub which has lots of useful information about mental health and wellbeing. Anyone can use it, even if you don't have health insurance with us.
Access to breakthrough cancer drugs.
If you’re diagnosed with cancer, we'll support you through your journey for as long as you have Bupa health insurance. You’ll also have access to eligible breakthrough cancer drugs and treatments, often before they are available on the NHS or approved by NICE (as long as they’re evidence-based).^
Talk to a doctor online, 24/7
The help and advice you need is just a click away. Your cover includes Bupa Blua Health, our digital GP service that provides appointments within 24 hours – day or night.‡‡ Choose to talk by video or phone call from home, work or wherever you are. Collect your medication within the hour or have it delivered to your door.†††
Get the help you need faster.
We’re here to help you deal with health issues big and small, sooner rather than later. That’s why you can call us directly for advice and treatment for muscle, bone or joint problems, mental health or cancer from the moment you need it - usually without the need to see a GP first. And rest assured we have specialists who can provide advice and support whenever you need it†.
24/7 health advice. Anytime.
Health insurance isn’t just there for the big things, it’s often those small niggles that can cause you worry too. That’s where our Anytime HealthLine comes in, with access to around-the-clock health advice from a trained nurse whenever you need it.
Healthcare that rewards you.
Our rewards programme gives you access to exclusive offers and discounts with some of the UK’s leading brands, keeping you happy as well as healthy.
†Direct Access telephone services are available as long as the symptoms are covered under the policy. If your cover excludes conditions you had before your policy started, we'll ask you to provide evidence from your GP that your symptoms are not pre existing for a period of up to two years from policy start date (or five years in the case of mental health) before we can refer you to a consultant or therapist through the Direct Access service. For rolling moratorium underwritten members we will ask for evidence each time you claim for a condition not claimed for before. Always call us first to check your eligibility.
†† As of September 2020, this analysis is based on an internally conducted review of the consumer, SME and Corporate health insurance markets using publicly available information from the major insurers in the UK consumer health insurance market. Combined, Bupa, AXA PPP, Aviva, Cigna and Vitality hold approximately 90-93% of the Gross Written Premium income of UK Private Medical Insurance providers. Refers to standard mental health cover when this is included in the selected health insurance or health trust product. We acknowledge that schemes can have bespoke benefits.

^With Bupa full cancer cover, there are no limits on how long your treatment lasts or how much it costs, for as long as you have Bupa health cover. If you or your employer set a maximum benefit limit, either for each renewal year or the full length of time that you’re with us, we’ll cover eligible costs until you reach your limit. You must use a hospital or health centre from the Bupa network and a consultant that we recognise and charges within Bupa rates (a fee-assured consultant). If your cover is provided by your employer, please check your certificate or guide to see which specific list of advanced therapies your employer has selected as it may not cover all advanced therapies.
‡‡ Customers who live on the Isle of Man, or have a Bupa Standard, Bupa Premium or Bupa Your Choice policy, do not have access to Bupa Blua Health, but can access GP24 provided by HealthHero. Some corporate schemes don't include access to Bupa Blua Health or GP24, so please check your scheme documents or give us a call.
††† Bupa Blua Health prescriptions are private, so you'll need to pay for your medication. There's no extra charge for 'click and collect' from a local pharmacy or for delivery to your door. Collection is usually available with 60 minutes, depending on your pharmacy opening hours, and selected pharmacies are open at weekends. Depending on your location, delivery to your door can be within 24 or 48 hours (other than on bank holidays).
