About our colon cancer screening
Colon cancer, or bowel cancer, is one of the most common types in the UK, although the majority of cases are preventable. Our colon health check includes a CT scan of your bowel, known as a virtual colonoscopy, designed to check for polyps (small growths on the inner lining of the colon), and other signs of abnormalities or cancer.
If the CT scan detects any significant polyps or cancers, we'll discuss the next steps with you. This may significantly reduce the chance of bowel cancer developing and may even be able to be cured.
Is a colon health cancer screening right for me?
Our colon health cancer screening is for anyone over 45 without symptoms. If you’ve noticed a lump or something that isn’t normal for you, see your GP or book a private GP appointment as soon as possible.
Colon cancer symptoms
- Blood in your poo
- Change in your bowel habits for more than three weeks (for example, the frequency you go or the consistency of the stool)
- Lower abdominal pain – including bloating and discomfort
While these symptoms can also be the sign of another health condition like haemorrhoids (piles) or Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), it’s important to a doctor if there are any signs or changes to your bowel habits.

What’s included?
Price £956 Time: 30 minutes
- Health questionnaire
Before your appointment we’ll ask you to fill this in. We’ll use it to understand your medical history and decide what tests will be most relevant. - GP consultation
During your appointment, the GP will talk through your questionnaire. You’ll also have a chance to discuss any concerns you have about your colon.
- CT scan
A computerised tomography scan looks for polyps and other signs of cancer. Seeing any signs early like this can make whatever treatment is needed easier. - Follow up referrals
After your health check, your GP will discuss the results with you. If we find anything that needs a closer look, the GP may refer you for more treatment. Or they can write to your NHS GP (with your consent) advising an NHS referral.

What do ‘false’ results mean?
In some case, results can be a ‘false positive’ or a ‘false negative’. A false positive can mean you’re called back for further tests when you’re then found not to have a cancer. A false negative means that you have a cancer but your screening result came back as normal.
These results are rare but it’s still stressful and upsetting. Whatever your result, it is important to report to a doctor any new symptoms you may develop after the test.
