About our breast cancer screening
Breast cancer screenings can identify early signs of breast cancer before noticeable symptoms appear, like a breast lump. The earlier these are detected, the easier they are to treat. This appointment is 30 minutes with a GP and, as well as a physical breast check and a mammogram, you’ll be able to discuss any worries you have about breast cancer.
Is a breast health cancer screening for me?
This is for anyone over 40 without symptoms who's worried about breast cancer. If you’ve noticed a lump or something that isn’t normal, see your GP or book a private GP appointment as soon as possible.

What do ‘false’ results mean?
In some case, results can be a ‘false positive’ or a ‘false negative’. A false positive can mean you’re called back for further tests when you’re then found not to have a cancer. A false negative means that you have a cancer but your screening result came back as normal.
These results are rare but it’s still stressful and upsetting. Whatever your result, it is important to report to a doctor any new symptoms you may develop after the test.
